Week of 11.04.16

Tuesday could mark a historic and important election day here locally and for our country.

Make sure you’ve done your part in voting.  EFEC has been kind enough to support our staff in voting by setting up ballot collection boxes at schools.  So, you can drop it off there or an Efec volunteer will take it to the county’s drop boxes for you.  They’ve changed pickup procedures so someone comes by every day.

Did you know you can register to vote right up until ballots are due and polls are closing

That means you still have time to register and VOTE on 3A & 3B!

If you choose to mail your ballot in, be sure to use TWO STAMPS or you can drop it off at the following locations both have 24-hour drop boxes:

  • Avon Clerk & Recorder’s Office: 100 West Beaver Creek Blvd
(next to Bob’s Place in the Avon Center Building)
  • Eagle Clerk & Recorder’s Office: 500 Broadway

If you have already voted, you can check on the status of your ballot (if it has been received and will be counted) by checking with the Colorado Secretary of State here.

Vail Daily Articles

My articles over these past few weeks have focused on election issues, trying to better inform the community.

This week’s article focused on common questions and answers related to the district’s ballot questions.

Last week, I discussed why the ballot is so crowded this year, including a discussion on how the demographics of who turns out to vote changes in Presidential election years.

Election Night – Thank you Celebration

While we can’t advocate for or against anything on the ballot during work hours, do consider coming out once the polls close on election night to say thanks to all the volunteers who are still working hard in support of our schools.  Win or lose, we owe them our gratitude.

FYI postmarks on ballots do not count. If you have not yet mailed your ballot, it is too late to do so. Just drop it off at the Clerk’s office or in an EFEC box. They have to get there no later than 7:00 pm on Tuesday.
